Một hôm, ở một đơn vị quân đội nọ, Đại uý kia gọi một anh lính mới gia nhập đơn vị lên để giao công việc. Nhưng chờ đợi quá lâu, anh ta tỏ ra có vẻ hơi bực mình. Một lúc lâu sau, anh lính nhà quê này cũng lên gặp Viên Đại Uý kia, bực mình, Viên đại uý quát:
- Làm gì mà bây giờ mới lên? - Dạ, tôi đang nghe giảng ạ.
Hơi khó chịu nhưng viên đại uý kia hỏi tiếp:
- Nghe giảng gì? Có quan trọng lắm sao?
Anh Lính có vẻ run sợ, ấp a ấp úng nói:
- Cá sấu biết bay ạ ! - Mày ngu à, cá sấu làm sao biết bay. Mà thằng nói với mày chắc cũng ngu lắm. Chứ cá sấu làm gì biết bay.
Nói xong, Đại uý cười có vẻ đắc chí lắm, bây giờ, mới hỏi tiếp:
- Ai nói với mày là cá sấu biết bay? - Dạ, là… - Là ai? - Là… Đại Tá ạ !
Khi nghe đến danh xưng Đại Tá, sắc mặt viên Đại uý hơi thay đổi theo sự sợ hãi, sợ tên lính nói lại với Đại tá lại khổ thân mình, nên đành xoa dịu rằng:
- Đúng vậy, cá sấu biết bay, nhưng nó chỉ có thể bay rất … rất thấp mà thôi. - ...
